Insurance Information and Monitoring Center

The Insurance Information and Monitoring Center was established as an institution possessing legal entity within the Association of Turkish Insurance and Reassurance Companies pursuant to article 31/B of the Insurance Law numbered 5684 in order to collect information which will constitute the basis for the risk assessment including the insurance malpractices with respect to the insured persons and the persons who benefit from the insurance contract even by indirect means and to ensure sharing of these information with the pension companies which are engaged in insurance, reassurance and insurance activities and the persons that are determined by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Turkey.

The decision making body of the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center which constitutes the Information Center in which the policy, supplement and damage records concerning the insurances that are determined by the Ministry are accumulated upon being transferred in the electronic environment by the insurance companies, is the Management Committee.

The Management Committee comprises of five members consisting of one each member who are elected by the Non-Life Insurance Management Committee and Life and Pension Management Committee among the personnel possessing the status of general director of the insurance and pension companies which are the members of the association, two members who are determined by the Ministry and the Manager of the Center.

The head office of the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center is in Istanbul and the activities of the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center are supervised by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

Our History

The Insurance Information and Monitoring Center was established under the name of “TRAMER” by virtue of the Regulation on Traffic Insurance Information Center which was prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Turkey and that was published in the Official Gazette dated 16.12.2003 and numbered 25318. By virtue of the regulation that was published in the Official Gazette dated 9 August 2008 and numbered 26962, the name of the Center was changed as the Insurance Information Center and by means of the amending regulation that was published in the Official Gazette dated 03.12.2011 and numbered 28131, the name of the Center was changed as the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center.

The Insurance Information and Monitoring Center performs works by accumulating the data of the insurance sector in a single center in order to store these data in a safe manner, provide reliable and meaningful data and statistics to ensure that the sector can execute sound pricing, increase confidence in the insurance sector by preventing the misconduct and to assist in the activation of the supervision.
