In his closing speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his thanks to all those involved in the organization of Turkey Innovation Week and contributed with their hard work, projects, ideas, experience and recommendations, and congratulated TIM for the organization. Erdoğan stated that at InovaLIG which is Turkey's first innovation development program which received projects from 480 companies last year, this year 488 companies participated with their projects and that this number will increase in the coming years. Erdoğan also congratulated the companies that won awards at InovaLIG and said "I wish further success to these companies in the future". Erdoğan also stated that he was so happy to see that InovaLIG has been taken to the global level. Erdoğan said that founding of InovaTIM for young innovators is a major step in encouraging young entrepreneurs and expressed future success to InovaClub.
Going through great transformation and change
Erdoğan stated that Turkey has gone through a great transformation and change in every area as well as in economy and said, "You've witnessed this enormous change closely. And now we have goals for 2023. Policies and practices that have brought Turkey to current times were very important but we can't reach our 2023 goals with them. We should raise the bar, develop new policies and implement them without hesitation. We will of course continue to produce but we'll focus more on innovative works with high brand value and are based on technology rather than on labor-intensive projects. Being able to design our own products has never been so important and vital. To achieve this, we need to place emphasis on innovation and R&D. Turkey ranked 74th in the global innovation index in 2012. This year it went up to 58th position. This picture shows our country's transition from efficiency based production to innovation based production but we've still got a long way to go."

We have the potential to make a leap
Mehmet Büyükekşi who started the third day of Turkey Innovation Week by saying, "We are the children of a land that has been the cradle of innovation and science throughout history", said that Anatolian geography was home to numerous cultures throughout history. Büyükekşi indicated that many scientists have been born on these lands in history and said "It was the scientists raised by these lands who pioneered the innovations that set the direction of current civilizations. Numerous scientists like Aristotle, Hippocrates, and Herophilus the father of anatomy, once lived in Anatolia. Also our fathers raised valuable scientists like Hezerfen Ahmet Çelebi, Piri Reis and Ali Kuşçu on these lands. The states founded on these lands were the most powerful on earth as long as they valued innovations. Many things, which were once thought to be impossible, were made possible on these lands. And now we have the potential to make a new leap. We have the brainpower and capital for that. And most importantly Turkey as a whole has reached a consensus that we need this. We'll carry the age of thinking big and innovative further. With the productivity of Turkish people, we'll make our country, a global player. Grandchildren of Hazerfen Ahmet Çelebi who are raised with the innovation culture will become the wings of Turkey."
We get our power from their support
In his speech to the president, Mehmet Büyükekşi expressed his thanks to the president for all his support and said "Four years ago, Turkey Innovation Week was visited by only 12 thousand people. And this year, around 50 thousand innovation enthusiasts visited in 3 days. For 3 days, we listened to 29 local and 14 foreign speakers. A total of 99 R&D centers, techno parks, science centers and universities and 471 designs and R&D projects were featured at Turkey Innovation Week. I'd like to thank our Ministry of Economy and our Minister of Economy Mr. Mustafa Elitaş for supporting this great event and our strategic partners Arçelik, Sabancı Holding, Türk Ekonomi Bankasi, THY and Turkcell which joined us this year, who have been supporting us for the last 4 years and our partner country the Netherlands. I would also like to thank TIM Innovation Committee, all InovaTIM members and the professional team of TIM."
We'll create high added value
Mehmet Büyükekşi stated that Turkey ranked 74th in the global innovation index in 2012 and that it ranked 58th in 2015. Büyükekşi noted that share of R&D has increased to 1% of GDP and that they will increase that to 3% in 2023.
Büyükekşi said, "We'll create high added value in industry and exports with brandization and innovative designs. With its powerful and dynamic economy, its exports with added value, with its industry producing technology, and its brands spread all over the world, Turkey will become the shining star of its region and the world. We believe with all our hearts that it will happen."
Büyükekşi who stated that they organized for the second time this year, InovaLIG which selects the innovation champions of Turkey and said "Turkey's innovation champions received their awards from the President. Global IMP3rove Awards which is the international leg of this competition and is also known as the champions' league were given to their winners for the first time in Istanbul. We are also proud to have organized the award ceremony for the most innovative companies of Turkey and the world in the presence of our President."
Innovation and the resulting added value will definitely play a major role in helping Turkey reach its 2023 goals. TIM, which aims to increase innovation awareness in both public and private sector in our country, with the InovaLIG program, is working on bringing a big capital to our country via an organization that is based in IMP3rove's concept which is administered by A.T. Kearney in 17 countries. With the InovaLIG program developed in association with A.T. Kearney, innovation reports of Turkish companies are created and innovation leaders are selected on an annual basis. Companies joining InovaLIG then receive their innovation reports prepared at both Turkish and European standards. As a result, companies are given an amazing opportunity to integrate innovation to their organizations and their daily operations. The goal is to convert Turkey's creative potential into added value via appropriate innovation management competencies. IMP3rove method is based on a logic that rewards projects aimed at achieving innovation management and systematic innovation competencies rather than merely rewarding companies that have developed successful innovative projects. This way the goal is to make innovation not only an outcome for participant companies but also to make it a sustainable and structural process that brings sustainable and repeatable awards.
