At the “Insurance and Private Pension Summit” which targets the executives and employees of the insurance industry, the ways of converting technological changes into opportunities were discussed.

Organized on 13 March 2014 under the leadership of Oracle, the summit titled “Insurance and Private Pension Summit” hosted the leading companies and executives of the insurance industry. The summit was held at Four Seasons Hotel Bosporus and among the topics discussed were impact of the rapidly changing technology on the insurance industry, changes in the sector that are brought along with digitalization and place of the insurance industry in the competitive environment. 

A new panel in the summit: “Pioneers of the sector”
At the summit, which featured opening speeches and numerous presentations, a panel titled “Pioneers of the Sector” was held in the afternoon. The panel was moderated by Insurance Information and Supervision Center (SBM) General Manager Aydın Satıcı. Among the panelists of the panel were Allianz Turkey CEO Solmaz Altın, Fiba Emeklilik ve Hayat General Manager Ömer Mert, Güneş Sigorta General Manager Serhat Süreyya Çetin and Zurich Sigorta CEO Yılmaz Yıldız and the panel featured presentations of successful projects that have been implemented using Oracle technologies. In addition to presentations, different technological experiences were shared with the audience and new ideas were developed for new projects.

One of the success stories that attracted great attention during the summit and was demonstrated with great excitement was the process of transition to Exadata and Data warehousing that was held at Insurance And Supervision Center.

The Exadata and Data warehousing Project that was realized in 2013, brought along a series of advantages both to SBM and the overall sector. 

Transition of SBM Warehousing platform to Exadata platform and ODI tool, allowed high-level of accessibility, uninterrupted backup, faster and error-free business development, higher quality data with greater consistency, and ability to carry out more powerful and real-time tests.

In addition, the transition of the database system to Oracle Exadata structure allowed a transition to a higher performance, secure, fast, reliable and high capacity architecture.

“Transition” at the Heart of the Insurance Industry
During the summit SBM IT Department Director Bülent Geçkin made a presentation titled “Transition at the Heart of the Insurance Industry”. This presentation featured information about the evolution of SBM and the transitions it’s gone through since its foundation. Geçkin also provided information about the new practices and the new SBM projects in the coming terms.
